L'écriture d'une pierre (2023)

Creative response to R. Caillois essay L'écriture des pierres (1970).

The entire project was built around the sensory regime of a stone extracted from its natural environment by photogrammetric capture. The stone was found (and is still) on the Mount Royal in Montréal and is animated with sound controllers involving 3D parametric modifiers. The sound controllers were driven by two audio tracks: the improvised vocals of  Albertine Norge and the cello of  Alain Joule. A new narrated version of the poem by Paula Dykstra will be added as a prologue.

 

Animation displayed in the winter of 2023 at the opening night of Unesco Canada's La Semaine du son at the Collège international Marie de France within the work Télépoésie N°4: Tambour de souffle directed by Alain Joule.

 

The animation was then presented as part of the sound art event WE HEAR BEFORE WE SEE (Paula Dykstra, curator) at the dance studio Fleur d'asphalte as a performance with the live improvised vocal and singing by Albertine Norge and the poetic intervention of Paula Dykstra.

L'entièreté du projet fut construit autour du régime sensoriel d'une pierre extraite de son environnement naturel par capture photogramétrique. La pierre fut trouvée (et se trouve toujours) au Mont-Royal (Montréal). Elle est animée avec l'aide de contrôleurs sonores faisant intervenir des modificateurs paramétriques 3D. Les contrôleurs sonores sont dirigés par deux pistes audio: la chant d'Albertine Norge et le violoncelle d'Alain Joule. Une nouvelle version narrée du poème de Paula Dykstra sera ajoutée en introduction.

 

Animation présentée à l'hiver 2023 à la soirée d’ouverture de La semaine du son de l’Unesco Canada au Collège international Marie de France dans le cadre de l'oeuvre Télépoésie N°4: Tambour de souffle  dirigée par Alain Joule.

 

L'animation fut présentée à nouveau dans le cadre de l'événement d'art sonore WE HEAR BEFORE WE SEE (Paula Dykstra, commissaire) au studio de danse Fleur d'asphalte sous la forme d'une performance avec une prestation vocale improvisée en direct par Albertine Norge et une intervention poétique de Paula Dykstra.
